GET AN ESTIMATE

Most property projects around here start the same way. Something has to come out, something has to be leveled, and water has to end up somewhere other than where it is going now.

That is our work. We are an excavation contractor based in Port Orchard, running equipment across Kitsap County, Mason County and Gig Harbor for homeowners, builders and property owners who need ground changed properly rather than pushed around.

★★★★★

"Doug did a great job. He is very flexible and did multiple things for me including demo of a manufactured home, driveway repair, brush cutting and creating a RV pad adapting power and sewage. They are very professional and reasonable."

Andrea Sheehan, Google Review

★★★★★

"I am so pleased with the leveling of my parking area! The company I hired to install a carport also remarked on the leveling work being superb. In addition, they were able to stump grind and bring in new gravel, a bonus not having to go through multiple companies."

Victoria Page, Google Review

★★★★★

"On time, quality work, does what they say they are going to do, and very reasonable. Doug, the main guy, talks to you like you are a person, is very respectable, answers all your questions. Takes the time needed to make sure you know what is needed and what is going to happen."

What We Handle

The list below covers the bulk of what comes through the door. Most jobs pull in two or three of these at once, which is usually the point of hiring one outfit instead of coordinating four.

Clearing and Site Preparation

Clearing a lot is not just knocking things down. What you leave in the ground decides how the site performs later.

Stumps and root balls have to come out rather than get buried, because buried organics rot and leave voids that show up as settlement under a slab or a driveway two years on. Topsoil worth keeping gets stripped and stockpiled instead of mixed into subgrade. Slash and debris get handled properly. And the site gets shaped so water leaves it during construction, not just after.

Access is part of site prep too, and it gets forgotten. Concrete trucks, lumber deliveries and a crane all need a route in that will carry them in February, not just in July. Building a temporary rock approach early in the project costs far less than pulling a stuck delivery truck out of a rutted field halfway through the build.

For anyone planning a build, our checklist for new build site prep in Port Orchard sets out the order these steps go in and what tends to hold projects up. On wooded or sloping lots it is also worth reading our guide to clay, rock and hillside excavation, because ground conditions in this part of Washington decide the method more than the plan does.

Grading, Drainage and Getting Water Under Control

How many of our calls are really drainage calls in disguise?

More than half. A soggy yard, a driveway washing out, a crawlspace that smells damp every winter, a bank that keeps slumping. Underneath each of those is ground that sends water the wrong way.

Kitsap County gets a lot of rain across a long wet season, and much of our soil sits over clay or till that water cannot pass through. That combination means surface shaping matters enormously here. Get the slope right and most of the problem disappears. Get it wrong and no amount of drain pipe will save you.

We work both halves of that. Grading sets where water goes on the surface, and drainage handles what soaks in. Our guide to how the right slope protects a property explains the surface side, and why yards flood every fall in Kitsap County covers the seasonal pattern most owners recognize.

How a Project Actually Runs

No two jobs are identical, but the sequence rarely changes.

We come out and walk the property with you. That visit is where the real information comes from, because photos hide slope, and nobody describes their own drainage accurately. We look at access, at what is in the ground, and at what you are actually trying to achieve, which is sometimes different from what you called about.

Then you get a written quote covering scope, timeline and what happens if we open the ground and find something unexpected. That last part matters. Every excavation carries some risk of surprises, and we would rather tell you in advance how they get handled than have the conversation from inside a hole.

On the day, we bring equipment sized to the access rather than the biggest machine available. A mini excavator that fits through a gate beats a full size machine that has to take out a fence to reach the work.

Every crew we send out is licensed and insured, and the work carries a satisfaction guarantee.

What Excavation Costs Around Kitsap County

Why will nobody give you a price over the phone?

Because the two things that drive cost the most are invisible from your description.

The first is access. Whether a truck and machine can reach the work, and whether spoil can be loaded and hauled directly, can change a quote substantially before anyone touches the actual job.

The second is what is under the surface. Clay behaves differently from till, a high water table changes the method, buried debris from an older structure adds time, and rock changes everything. Our excavation cost guide for Kitsap County breaks down the ranges homeowners here should plan around.

Timing plays a part too. Late spring through early autumn is the efficient window in this climate. Wet season work is possible and we do plenty of it, though saturated ground slows compaction and haul off. If your project has flexibility, our seasonal timing guide is worth reading before you book.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What areas do you serve?

We are based in Port Orchard and work throughout Kitsap County, Mason County and Gig Harbor, including Bremerton, Silverdale, Belfair, Bainbridge Island, Manchester, Southworth and the surrounding communities. Our areas we serve page has the full list.

  • Can you take on both the clearing and the grading, or do I need separate contractors?

By spending the effort below the surface. Stripping organics, dealing with a soft subgrade properly, compacting the base in lifts, using fabric where the ground calls for it, and setting a crown so water leaves rather than sits. None of that is visible when we finish, which is exactly why it gets skipped by cheaper bids.

  • How long will my project take?

Smaller garden walls are often a two to three day job. Longer runs, taller walls, or anything that needs an old wall demolished first will run longer. Weather matters here more than most places, since we will not compact backfill in saturated conditions and get away with it.

  • Do you work with builders as well as homeowners?

Yes. A good share of our work is site preparation, foundation excavation and utility trenching for builders and general contractors, alongside the residential jobs. The standards do not change between the two.

Start With a Site Visit

We are family-owned, we live and work in the same county as our clients,

and most of our jobs come from someone who saw the work we did next door.

That is a decent quality check.
